The occupational Health Training Center (OHTC) was established as an institute of the University of Occupational and Environmental Health (UOEH) for the purpose of educating and giving practical training to persons in occupationa] health. Its major focus is the undergraduate students of UOEH and the residents engaged in occupational health training, but it is also taking a part in the continuing education program for occupational health for all occupational health personnel in Japan. To fulfill these purposes, it is functioning as an occupational health service center in the region as well as an information service center for the whole country. Occupational health physicians (OHPs) are basically responsible for the prevention of occupational diseases. However, their role is gradually expanding with a much larger objective, that is, the health promotion of the workers. Therefore, OHPs Should be experts in applying their expertise in occupational health to the workplace with dedication and energy to their tasks.
OHTC welcomes those candidates whose aim is to obtain the following practical skills and to develop them to the highest level.

1 . To foresee the health status of the workers based on the sound understanding of the nature of the work, management, and industrial structure.
2. To seek comprehensive and lifelong health.
3. To maintain good relations with the community health care system.
4. To consider not only the regional but also the global environment.
5. To act on the basis of intenational health.
6. To establish an independent specialty through unique theoretical ground work.
7. To create an educational system based on ethical guidelines for Active Occupational Health.
