The division of health Care and Promotion (HCP) is in charge of the daily health care services such as medical checkups for the university employees and students, medical checkups for workers of the community enterprises, and comprehensive physical examinations.

Moreover, the Health Care Center carries out daily health counseling and health promotion activities for the university employees and students.

Health Improvement Program

The Total Health Promotion Plan (THP) of the Ministry of Labor of Japan requires that the employer provides not only disease detection and prevention methods but also health promotion activities in the workplace. THP includes the evaluation of physical fitness, counseling regarding life style, nutrition, mental health and exercise. OHTC has developed an original THP system and software. The software is designed in such a way that even a beginner can handle it easily. We also conduct Health Education Programs for workers in the university. Courses such as gSmoking Cessationh, gSwimming classh,  gAerobic exerciseh and gFor better communication-Active listeningh are included in our programs.

The purpose of our activity is

 1 To aid in the health improvement of university employees

 2 To provide practical training of THP for the post graduate medical students

 3 To develop scientific theories for health improvement

Information service on Occupational Health

OHTC is offering a hot line service on Occupational Health to occupational physician and nurses at the workplace. The OHTC staff and residents are in charge of the service. They answer the questions in cooperation with the specialists inside and outside UOEH. This service is available by on-call telephone, as well as by facsimile, mail or computer network. The question and the answer are inserted in our university news (photograph in Japanese). Furthermore, OHTC also furnishes an Occupational Health Forum on the computer network so that occupational health specialists can discuss problems with each other.

Training courses for the members of the Japan Medical Association(JMA)

OHTC is offering a two-day laboratory training program in occupational health once a year for the members of the JMA. A maximum of one hundred occupational health physicians, who are members of the Association in the Kyushu district, are attending this course. Moreover, intensive course to obtain the certificates of about 400 occupational physicians all over the country is conducted in summer season.

The Center is also dispatching teachers upon request to the basic training courses approved by the JMA held by prefectural Associations. Most of the training courses of OHTC are offered to the residents of the post-graduate training courses of UOEH.

However, if a course is not fully registered by the residents, it is open to other physicians.
